The Product
Dermal fillers contain Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that helps maintain skin hydration and elasticity. As we age, our natural supply of Hyaluronic acid diminishes resulting in sagging skin, dullness and deeper wrinkles, including thinner lips. Dermal fillers are used to restore volume, refine facial contours and create subtle definition.
The Consultation
We will work together to create a treatment plan focusing on your areas of concerns to provide subtle, medically-led treatments. There are lot's of attributes to consider when deciding on different volumes that patients require to create their desired look. During your Prim Herts Aesthetics consultation, I will be able to advice the volumes and filler thickness to complete your treatment plan.
The Procedure
Local anaesthetic (numbing cream) can be applied to the areas of treatment to ensure the most comfortable procedure for you.
After cleansing the skin, injection sites are landmarked using a temporary skin marker pencil. When you are ready filler is injected into the desired area. You may initially be swollen, red and bruised which will subside within the next 1 – 10 days. You will be able to feel the filler under the skin.
The Aftercare
Attention to aftercare is crucial for preventing filler migration and ensuring the desired look is preserved.
It is advisable that you do not touch the area for 6 hours.
Avoid exposure to UV and extreme heat i.e. sauna, steam rooms, sun beds etc. as this may increase discomfort and swelling.
Also avoid extreme cold; this includes ice packs that are directly applied to the skin. If necessary you can apply a cool compress to the area to reduce any discomfort or swelling.
Arnica tablets/gel can be used to help reduce bruising or the application of vitamin k oxide cream.
If you have had a local nerve infiltration injection please do not consume any hot or cold drinks until your sensation has returned to normal. You must also be careful when eating so that you do not risk biting your lip.
You should also avoid any facial massages or skin resurfacing until the area has healed fully.
If you feel unsatisfied with the result after 14 days, a review appointment can be arranged but any additional products used will be charged at the normal price per syringe.
Effect will start to wear off after 6-12 months.
Hyaluronidase dissolving
Occasionally dermal fillers need to be dissolved when the aesthetic treatment has not produced the desired outcome.
Hyalase® is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers, but it can also break down naturally occurring hyaluronic acid present in the body, the results can be unpredictable and the effect dramatic.
Please be aware that a skin sensitivity patch test will need to be performed prior to treatment.
